Ultra-cheap compact sedan entrant for GM, débuting a new brand and competing with domestic automakers. On the old Daewoo Lacetti (J241) platform. Targeted at first-time car buyers. A joint venture between GM partners SAIC and Wuling, and GM itself, using parts’ bin components. Roewe 1·5 engine thirsty, according to claimed figures, though less so than Lacetti. Fairly conventional looks for Chinese market. Simple interior, built to a price. Chevrolet Optra in North Africa. Facelift in 2015, large rear lights added. Chinese production to 2016.
