Originally called Dongfeng Fengshen, treading that confusing area between model name and sub-brand, but formally became Dongfeng Aeolus around 2018. It later became more of an independent marque. However, by 2023, Dongfeng announced it would unify its brands under a single corporate structure and the Aeolus script did not appear on the 2025 L8 crossover.
