AMC Hornet/VAM Hornet. 1970–7 (prod. 835,198). 2- and 4-door sedan, 3-door coupé, 5-door wagon. F/R, 232, 258 in³ (I6 OHV), 304, 360 in³ (V8 OHV). Replacement for Rambler American, with fairly good dependability compared to rivals. Noisy, unrefined and slightly rust-prone, with electrical glitches in later models; equipment upgraded year on year. Hatchback and two-door on shorter wheelbase. Succeeded by AMC Concord, effectively a facelifted, upgraded Hornet. Built also in México by VAM.
