Volvo XC40. 2017 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door SUV. F/F, F/A, 1969 cm³ petrol, 1969 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC). Volvo débuts a new language under design chief Thomas Ingenlath with chunky XC40 crossover on CMA platform shared with Lynk & Co. 01, rivalling Mercedes-Benz GLA and BMW X1 (F48). Styled by Ian Kettle. Large C-pillar with paint schemes hiding its bulk. Large 12·3-inch instrument panel inside; speakers mounted in unconventional places to liberate space; inductive charging for cellphones. Active safety, similar to that of larger Volvos.

Manufacturing locations: Luqiao, Zhejiang, China; Gent, Belgium

Marque: Volvo
