Volvo S90 (X44). 1996–8 (prod. 1,430,000 approx., including 740, 760, 940, 960 and V90). 4-door saloon, 4-door LWB saloon, 4-door limousine. F/R, 2473, 2922 cm³ (I6 DOHC). Renamed 960, with a far more limited range of engines, all based around the 2·9-litre unit. Tiny improvements to interior and electrics. End of the line for the rear-wheel-drive 760-based models. Complemented by V90 estate.
