Volvo P1800. 1961–3 (prod. 6,000 approx.). 2-door coupé. F/R, 1780 cm³ (4 cyl. OHV). Sport coupé from Volvo, replacing unloved P1900, with styling by Pelle Petterson of Frua. Volvo parts’ bin used for mechanicals, while vehicle made by Jensen Motors, with bodies by Pressed Steel in Linwood, Scotland. Contract was originally for 10,000 cars, but ended at 6,000, with quality concerns. Engines were reliable, having their origins in Volvo truck units. Used in TV series The Saint.
