Hot T-5 versions, with 225 PS, saw 850 in touring car championship races, gaining a performance image for the company. First mass-produced car with transverse inline five-cylinder engine. Mid-term facelift in 1994, T-5R limited edition performance model in 1995. R model in 1996, with 250 PS, and four-wheel-drive from 1997.
