From Autocade
Latest revision as of 10:02, 25 January 2016Volkswagen Variant II. 1977–82 (prod. 41,002). 3-door estate. R/R, 1594 cm³ (I4 OHV). Heavily revised Volkswagen 1600, in turn based on the Typ 3. Last air-cooled Volkswagen launched, with better quality than outgoing model. Arrived at the same time as the revised Ford Belina, the estate version of the Corcel II. Five inches wider than 1600, but restyle made it look like the more basic Käfer-based Volkswagen Brasília. Not that roomy compared with rivals. Some equipment upgrades for 1980, but discontinued in 1982 along with Brasília.
Marque: Volkswagen | Predecessor: Volkswagen 1600 (1968–77) | Successor: Volkswagen Parati (BX)
