2011 Volkswagen Up.jpg

Volkswagen Up. 2011 to date (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 998 cm³ petrol, 998 cm³ CNG–petrol (I3 DOHC), 18·7, 36·8 kWh electric. City car from Volkswagen, with clever packaging and good ride, though at the expense of handling. Reasonably good materials inside despite entry-level price; new three-cylinder lacks balancer shafts but harshness largely removed. Five-door shown at IAA in Frankfurt in September 2011. Electric model, called E-Up, from 2013. Updated E-Up with more powerful electric motor from 2019 (36·8 kWh gross, 32·3 kWh net).

Manufacturing locations: Bratislava, Slovakia; Taubaté, São Paulo, Brazil

Marque: Volkswagen | Predecessors: Volkswagen Fox (2003–21), Volkswagen Gol G4

q.v. SEAT Mii, Škoda Citigo
