Volkswagen Tharu/Volkswagen Taos. 2018 to date (prod. n/a). F/F, F/A, 1395, 1498, 1598, 1984 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 44·1 kWh electric. Tasked with replacing the Volkswagen Tiguan I in China after the second-generation model grew. Similar footprint but longer wheelbase (2,680 mm). Rivalled Jeep Compass (MP). Top model featured dual-clutch DSG gearbox and seven speeds. Panoramic sunroof, blind-spot detection, electronic parking brake and dual-zone air conditioning among available features. E-Tharu electric model from 2020. Also sold in lightly restyled form as the Taos in the Americas and Russia.
