2011 Volkswagen Jetta.jpg

Volkswagen Jetta/Volkswagen Sagitar (Typ 5C6). 2010–18 (prod. n/a). 4-door saloon. F/F, 1197, 1981 cm³ petrol (I4 OHC), 1390, 1395, 1598, 1984 cm³ petrol, 1598, 1968 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 2480 cm³ (I5 DOHC). Booted Golf, though sharing no sheetmetal with its hatchback sibling. On PQ35 platform, as with Golf. Announced in the US first, as Jetta spearheaded Volkswagen’s drive for extra sales. Designed to be cheaper to build than predecessor. American models are simpler, making do without multi-link rear suspension, which hurt handling, and a base 2·0 OHC engine and cheaper interior materials. European models retain the more complex suspension. Overall, a decent ride, quiet, comfortable and economical, though not as rewarding a drive as before. Different 1·4 and 1·6 petrol units in China.

Manufacturing locations: Puebla, México; Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India; Chengdu, Sichuan, China

Marque: Volkswagen | Model: Volkswagen Jetta | Predecessor: Volkswagen Bora (1K) | Successor: Volkswagen Jetta VII
