Volkswagen Golf/Volkswagen Bora HS. 1997–2014 (prod. 4,990,000 approx. sold). 3- and 5-door saloon, 5-door estate, 2-door cabriolet. F/F, F/A, 1595, 1781, 1984 cm³ petrol, 1896 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1390, 1598, 1781 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2324 cm³ (V5 OHC), 2324 cm³ (V5 DOHC), 2792, 3189 cm³ (V6 DOHC). More grown-up Golf, with large C-pillar, though cabriolet a facelifted Mk III. With this model, Volkswagen moved upmarket with a premium small car as SEAT and Škoda filled original slot. R32 the ultimate model with 3·2-litre 24-valve V6. German production ceased in 2006, but Brazilian and Chinese production (as Bora HS) continued. Facelift in 2007 in Brazil, with exports to Canada as City Golf or, according to VW’s website, Golf City.
