Volkswagen Fusca (Brasil).jpg

Volkswagen Fusca. 1993–6 (prod. 47,700 approx.). 2-door sedan. R/R, 1584 cm³ (F4 OHV). Brazil revived Fusca production after seven-year absence on the insistence of President Itamar Franco, who believed Brazilians needed an affordable people’s car. Some changes, similar to Sedán in México that had remained in production, with electronic ignition, laminated windscreen, catalytic converter, three-point seat belts, new air intakes. Interestingly, Fusca also had ABS. No fuel injection, however, on Brazilian models, which stuck with regular carburettors. However, outmoded more than ever with Brazilians preferring more modern small cars such as the Fiat Uno Mille and Volkswagen Gol.

Manufacturing location: São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, Brazil

Marque: Volkswagen | Model: Volkswagen Käfer | Predecessors: Volkswagen Sedán (1985–2003), Volkswagen Fusca (1983–6) | Successor: Volkswagen New Beetle
