A badge used by Volkswagen out of convenience, originally to denote its Typ 3 flagship model from 1961 to 1965. When the Typ 3 gained a 1·6-litre engine, the 1500 moniker was dormant for a couple of years till the Käfer gained a 1·5 in 1967. That was deleted by the turn of the decade. The 1500 name would resurface in the 1980s on a car that began live as the Hillman Avenger, which Volkswagen came by through acquisition. The 1500 and 1500M (with a 1·8) was cheap and reliable, and the last car to wear the badge.

Marque: Volkswagen | Successors: Volkswagen 1600, Volkswagen Voyage
