Volkswagen 1302/Volkswagen 1302S (Typ 1). 1971–2 (prod. n/a). 2-door saloon, 2-door convertible. 1285, 1584 cm³ (I4 OHV). The Super-Käfer, or “big Beetle”, with a bulbous bonnet, larger boot and twin louvres at rear. Front MacPherson struts and semi-trailing arms with double-jointed driveshafts at rear. Stronger crankcase and dual inlet port cylinder heads for 1·6 (dubbed 1302S), while a more powerful 1·3 had the latter.
