Vauxhall Cavalier Mk I. 1975–81 (prod. unknown). 2- and 4-door saloon, 2- and 3-door coupé. F/R, 1256, 1584, 1897, 1979 cm³ (4 cyl. SOHC). Opel Ascona B and Manta B with Vauxhall “cat’s eyes” grille, built on the same production line in Belgium. Developed by Opel, with minimal Vauxhall input. Base 1·3 model from 1978 with engine from Viva and Chevette, 1·9 replaced by 2·0 the same year. Three-door coupé from 1978. Aftermarket convertible by Magraw Engineering, called Centaur, offered 1978–80. Conventional and well built car, giving Vauxhall a competent entry against Ford Cortina Mk IV in UK.
