Dynamically behind the times compared with foreign competitors. With 1500 at launch; 1750 added later. Bonnet the only panel change; prominent grille said to be inspired by Daimler Double Six. Kingsbury factory closed 1979, with final cars from Abingdon. Vanden Plas name wound up on upscale Austins in the 1980s.
