Vanden Plas 1500/Vanden Plas 1750. 1974–80 (prod. n/a). 4-door saloon. F/F, 1459, 1748 cm³ (I4 OHC). No Princess tag for this generation, based on unhappy Austin Allegro. Dynamically behind the times compared with foreign competitors. With 1500 at launch; 1750 added later. Bonnet the only panel change; prominent grille said to be inspired by Daimler Double Six. Kingsbury factory closed 1979, with final cars from Abingdon. Vanden Plas name wound up on upscale Austins in the 1980s.
