Triumph Stag Mk II.jpg

Triumph Stag. 1970–7 (prod. 25,939). 2-door convertible. F/R, 2997 cm³ (V8 OHC). Grand tourer from Triumph, and not really a full convertible: roll bar hoop and T-bar remained, anticipating US legislation. Michelotti styling proved smart and contemporary, and lent itself to the Triumph Mk II range. Engine enlarged from Triumph 2·5 unit; fully independent suspension. Engine problems soon emerged, from poor design and manufacture, which led to poor sales: a tiny 2,871 went to the US. Mk II from 1973, with relatively few changes.

Manufacturing location: Canley, West Midlands, England

Marque: Triumph
