1980 Triumph Dolomite 1300.jpg

Triumph Dolomite. 1972–80 (prod. 204,003 incl. Sprint). 4-door saloon. F/R, 1296, 1493 cm³ (I4 OHV), 1854 cm³ (I4 OHC). Smaller Triumph saloons ranged from basic to stylish, though always with a wooden dashboard and reasonably timeless Michelotti look. Essentially the 1500 hull but with rear-wheel-drive mechanicals underneath, created to fight the likes of the BMW 2002. OHC 1·9 first, before Dolomite absorbed the smaller Toledo range in 1976, and included two basic models at the entry level. Range-topping Sprint covered separately (q.v.).

Manufacturing locations: Canley, Coventry, England; Speke, Merseyside, England

Marque: Triumph | Model: Triumph Dolomite | Predecessors: Triumph Vitesse, Triumph Toledo, Triumph 1500 TC | Successor: Triumph Acclaim
