Triumph 2000.jpg

Triumph 2000 (Barb). 1963–9 (prod. 113,157, plus 7,488 estate). 4-door saloon, 5-door estate. F/R, 1998 cm³ (I6 OHV). Triumph’s entrant into the small executive market, later retrospectively titled Mk I. Michelotti-designed exterior. Standard Vanguard Six engine delivered good performance. Conventional in some respects but all-round independent suspension and front disc brakes helped with car’s dynamics. Excellent interior with wood trim. Estate from 1965. A fuel-injected 2·5 PI model was added 1968 (see separate entry).
