1981 Toyota Soarer.jpg

Toyota Soarer (Z10/GZ10/MZ10/MZ11/MZ12). 1981–6 (prod. n/a). 2-door coupé. F/R, 1988 cm³ (I6 OHC), 1988, 2759, 2954 cm³ (I6 DOHC). Personal luxury car to challenge the BMW 6er-Reihe (E24) based on the platform of the A60 Toyota Celica XX, with high-tech features for the era—more high-line models had a digital speedometer and tachometer, and electronic voice warnings. Toyota used Soarer to introduce new technological features. MacPherson struts at front, semi-trailing-arm IRS. Turbo from 1981. Beat the Nissan Leopard (F30) by having a range of straight-six engines—Nissan had four-cylinder units, harming its image—and effectively replaced the Toyota Crown two-door coupé, which ended its run in 1983. Mid-term changes 1983.

Manufacturing location: Tahara, Aichi, Japan

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Soarer | Predecessor: Toyota Crown (S110) | Successor: Toyota Soarer (Z20)
