Booted version of Vitz, but less cohesive in design. Plainer, less involving to drive. Mid-term changes 2002. Built in Japan till 2005, Chinese production as Tianjin Xiali 2000 from 2000 to 2004, then FAW Yaku (Echo) after the takeover from 2002 to 2004, then facelifted Vela from 2004 to 2008.
