Toyota Mark II (X90/SX90/GX90/JZX90/LX90). 1992–6 (prod. 206,389 sold in Japan). 4-door hardtop sedan. F/R, F/A, 1838 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2446 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1988, 2492, 2997 cm³ (I6 DOHC). New platform, with single smooth hardtop sedan body style. All models in the class 3 segment in Japan, as Toyota developed the seventh-generation Mark II during the bubble economy, which had burst just before launch. Cost reductions to help shift the cars, and weight actually reduced by 100 kg compared with the previous generation despite a size increase. Four-wheel drive added for 1993, with the 2·5-litre six only. Minor changes in 1994. Driver airbags became standard from September 1995.
