Toyota Crown (S150/GS151/JZS150/LS151). 1995–2001 (prod. 503,430 sold in Japan). 4-door sedan, 4-door hardtop sedan. F/R, F/A 1988, 2492, 2997 cm³ petrol, 1988 cm³ LPG (I6 DOHC), 2446 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Tenth-generation Crown goes to a monocoque construction, reducing weight by 100 kg. More emphasis on performance but in a conservative body. With post-bubble-economy cost savings, air suspension abandoned for Royal Saloon G in this generation, and Majesta shared this platform. Four-wheel drive added for the first time. Mid-term changes in 1997, with SRS side airbags added, and seven-inch screen inside. The 2·5 gained variable valve timing in 1998. Hardtop to 1999, sedan to 2001.
