Toyota Corona EXiV (ST180). 1989–93 (prod. n/a). 4-door hardtop sedan. F/F, F/F 4WS, 1838, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Toyota replaces long-running coupés with a formal hardtop sedan, a style popular in Japan. Same platform as Carina ED, another four-door hardtop, with which it shared its development code. EXiV stood for extra impressive, and styling characterized by long lines. Technological tour de force with switchable four-wheel steering and DOHC engines, with very refined interior and high equipment levels, though dynamically, another dull entry in the Corona range. Mid-term upgrades 1991.
