Toyota Corona (T150). 1983–7 (prod. n/a). 4- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 1453, 1832 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1974 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Front-wheel-drive Corona, initially launched as five-door hatchback in January 1983, designated FF, complementing T140 sedan and coupé in Japan. Remainder of range launched by October, replacing T140 sedan. No station wagon this series; export markets made do with revised T140. Generally refined, but less than inspired motoring. Promoted by Roger Moore—then the screen James Bond—inside Japan. Exported to Europe as Carina II, the first series to bring Carina and Corona on to the same platform. T160 coupé, based around Toyota Celica (T160), launched 1985 (q.v.).
