2012 Toyota Corolla Axio.jpg

Toyota Corolla (E160). 2012 to date (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1329, 1497, 1797 cm³ (4 cyl. DOHC). With Japanese buyers more interested in fuel economy, Toyota pushed the efficient side of the new Corolla in marketing, and the cars’ suitability to urban driving. Same sub-names: Axio for sedans; Fielder for wagons. Fielder pitched above Axio slightly, with 1·8 exclusive to it at launch. Lighter than before, thanks to Toyota shifting to Vitz platform for this generation in Japan, effectively killing off the Belta. Shorter than predecessor by 50 mm. CVT and stop–start options. No real change to the domestic-appliance formula.

Manufacturing location: Ōhira, Miyagi, Japan

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Corolla | Predecessors: Toyota Corolla (E140), Toyota Belta
