1985 Toyota Celica XX.jpg

Toyota Celica XX (A60). 1981–6 (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé. F/R, 1998, 2759 cm³ (I6 OHC), 1998, 2759 cm³ (I6 DOHC). XX now more distinct from basic Celicas, with low nose and pop-up headlights. More powerful, with sixes, and more luxurious, with trip computer standard along with AM–FM radio cassette and the option of five speakers and an early navigation system. Related to the first Toyota Soarer (Z10) and base engine shared with that model and with contemporary Cresta. DOHC 2·8 from the beginning, Turbo from 1982, two-litre DOHC later than year. Mid-term changes for 1983. A decent cruiser, with reasonably good fuel economy for a sporting car, and handling fettered by Lotus though the suspension system was pure Toyota. Exported as Celica Supra.

Manufacturing location: Japan

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Celica | Predecessor: Toyota Celica (A40) | Successor: Toyota Supra (A70)
