Toyota Celica (T230). 1999–2006 (prod. n/a). 3-door coupé. F/F, 1794, 1796 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Totally rethought, with Toyota turning out one of the best handling front-wheel-drive coupés around, on a platform related to the Toyota Vista (V50), based on the Ardeo four-wheel-drive set-up, although the Celicas were front-wheel drive only. Shorter than its predecessor (by 101 mm) and lighter (by 60 to 90 kg). Two 1·8-litre engines, the more powerful featuring variable-valve timing. Mid-term facelift 2003. However, sales dropped as the coupé market shrank, and the Celica line was brought to an end after 36 years in 2006.
Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Celica | Predecessor: Toyota Celica (T200) | Successors: Scion TC (2004–10), Toyota 86
