Toyota Carina ED (ST160). 1985–9 (prod. n/a). 4-door hardtop sedan. F/F, 1832, 1998 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1838, 1998 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Toyota replaced its Carina coupé with a four-door hardtop, a model style in vogue in Japan in the late 1980s. ED supposedly stood for exciting and dressy. Based on the Toyota Celica (T160) platform and marketed as a four-door coupé. Tight rear accommodation because of the low roofline, but managed to gain some popularity thanks to the rise of the Japanese bubble economy. Mid-term changes in 1987. With changes in engines, by 1988 the entire range featured DOHC units.
