1996 Toyota Carina 2·0Si.jpg

Toyota Carina (T210). 1996–2001 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan. F/F, F/A, 1498, 1587, 1762, 1998 cm³ petrol (I4 DOHC), 1974, 2184 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Last Carina, as Toyota saw the writing on the wall for its long-running mid-sized sedan, especially with its former compacts now getting up to the same size, and overseas buyers preferring the larger Camry. Domestic sales only, and related to the Toyota Corona (T210), with which it shared its front door skins and instrument panel (as well as the Toyota Caldina (T190)). ABS and airbags standard. GT returned with 4A-GE 1·6 with five valves per cylinder (shared with Corolla Levin and [[Toyota Sprinter (E110)|Sprinter Trueno), good for 165 PS. Minor changes in 1997 with new door mirrors and inclusion of basic E model. Mid-term changes 1998 with refresh and mechanical upgrades; larger diesel débuted. Deleted in 2001 after 31 years; Allion took over, but with a similar formula.

Manufacturing location: Toyota City, Aichi, Japan

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Carina | Predecessor: Toyota Carina (T190) | Successor: Toyota Allion (T240)
