Toyota Camry (XV20).jpg

Toyota Camry Gracia/Toyota Camry/Daihatsu Altis/Toyota Vienta (XV20). 1996–2001 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 2164 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 2496, 2995 cm³ (V6 DOHC). Launched in Japan December 1996, in many ways a “standard car”: one that did everything competently but no one thing remarkably—which was exactly what many buyers wanted. One of the US’s top-selling passenger cars. Badge-engineered in Japan as Daihatsu Altis, the first time Daihatsu competed in this executive market; Camry denoted four-cylinder models in Australia but called Vienta with V6. Platform shared with Canadian-built coupé, called Toyota Camry Solara (1999–2003).

Manufacturing locations: Tsutsumi, Japan; Georgetown, Kentucky, USA; Altona, Victoria, Australia

Marque: Toyota | Model: Toyota Camry | Predecessors: Toyota Camry (V40); Toyota Scepter | Successor: Toyota Camry (XV30)
