Toyopet Crown Eight (VG10). 1964–7 (prod. 3,834). 4-door sedan. F/R, 2599 cm³ (V8 OHV). Exhibited at Tokyo 1963, launched the following year, and based around the RS40, created for official, VIP and executive usage. Outwardly, a widened and lengthened Crown, with width at 1,845 mm, up from the regular model’s 1,695 mm. Length up 120 mm to 4,720 mm. All-aluminium V8, developing 115 PS. Two-speed automatic, power steering, power windows, and electromagnetic-actuated door locks (which would not work with a flat battery), and option of cruise control. Pricey, at ¥1·65 million. Minor change in 1965.
