2016 Tata Zica.jpg

Tata Zica/Tata Tiago. 2016 to date (prod. n/a). 5-door saloon. F/F, 1049 cm³ diesel, 1198 cm³ petrol (I3 DOHC). Tata launches a rival to the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Hyundai Grand i10, with Zica a contraction of zippy car. However, the car was released to the media at the same time as the deadly zika virus, and the consumer website went live, too. Tata was forced to rethink its name after spending considerably on its promotion; by March, it was called Tiago, the name consumers saw when the car made it into showrooms. Some interior quality niggles but excellent sound system available despite the low price; roomy inside. Good ride, gear-change could be better. More refined than previous Tata efforts, with some noise, but not in an annoying fashion. Diesel unit downsized from Indica 1·4.

Manufacturing location: Sanand, Gujarat, India

Marque: Tata

q.v. Tata Tigor
