Suzuki Swift/Maruti Suzuki Swift (ZC11S/ZD11S/ZC21S/ZD21S/ZC71S/MZ/EZ). 2004 to date (prod. 2,000,000 incl. ZC2 to March 2011). 3-, 4- and 5-door sedan. Torino- and Yokohama-styled small car, built initially in Japan and Hungary, with Indian production at Maruti following. Stylish and spacious, and one of the company’s most popular models. Far stiffer than predecessor; sportier styling helped sales exceed forecasts. Well equipped. Good grip; some issues mechanically which were sorted through the run. Diesel supplied by Fiat. Targeted export markets but sold well in Japan; especially popular during fuel crisis of the late 2000s and with the growth in the Indian automotive market. Sport model from 2005. Mid-term revisions in 2007. Three-box sedan in Indian market called Swift Dzire from 2008. Improvements to fuel economy with CVT in 2009. Replaced on Hungarian and Japanese production lines in 2010.
