Suzuki Cultus/Chevrolet Sprint/Suzuki Khyber (AA41S/M-car/MB/ML). 1983–2004 (prod. n/a). 3- and 5-door sedan. F/F, 993 cm³ (I3 OHC), 1324 cm³ (I4 OHC), 1324 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Largest passenger car from Suzuki at this point, sold in some markets as Swift or SA-310, and one of GM’s smallest. Exported worldwide but also sold as a GM product in mostly Asia–Pacific markets and the Americas, as Chevrolet Sprint, Holden Barina (five-door in Australia, with Warner Bros.’ Road Runner-themed marketing at launch; both body styles in New Zealand) and Pontiac Firefly. Tidy, contemporary styling. Three-cylinder at launch; four-cylinder from 1984. Turbocharged one-litre from 1984, 1·3 GT-i with DOHC from 1986. Mid-term facelift 1986. Once Japanese production ended, Colombia began manufacturing the car as the Chevrolet Sprint, to 2004, after which it was replaced by a version of the Daewoo Matiz (M200). Pakistan also made the car as the Khyber, to 2000.
