Seventh-gen Alto sees K6A engine again, but with VVT restored after skipping a generation. Revised transmission, with new four-stage CVT automatic complementing five-speed manual. Two grilles, depending on the model. Alto Eco (HA35S), a lightweight fuel-economy special, appeared in 2011, with engine shut-off when idling under 9 km/h, and rear lights and high-stop light changed to LEDs to save power. The eco measures resulted in a 30·2 km/ℓ (85 mpg [Imperial]) fuel consumption, later rising to 35 km/ℓ (99 mpg). E-Fuelness tests had Alto Eco beat Toyota Aqua marginally, winning their awards in 2013–14 and 2014–15. Badge-engineered as Mazda Carol (HB25S).
