Subaru Legacy (BC/BF/BJ). 1989–93 (prod. n/a). 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon. F/F, F/A, 1820, 1994, 2212 cm³ (F4 OHC), 1994 cm³ (F4 DOHC). Largest car from Subaru at the time, stylistically an evolution from boxy Leone. More conventional, trying to appeal to a wider customer base. Developed during a troubled stage at Fuji; typically reliable nevertheless. New engines débuted as part of range. Mid-term changes in 1991 with facelift; well specified Brighton 220 Touring Wagon from 1992. Some competition history as Subaru took Legacys racing. Renamed Liberty in Australia.
