Ssangyong crossover, launched with front-wheel drive and a petrol engine, with four-wheel-drive and diesels following later. Targeted Nissan Juke and Renault Captur I and designed in Italy, though Ssangyong initially kept the designer’s identity a mystery. First all-new model since Mahindra takeover. Front MacPherson struts, rear torsion beam suspension; not the best ride based on Korean-spec models, though steering was light, for urban use. Many customization options. Well appointed cabin with decent plastics, and practical, though 1·6 petrol needed to be worked. Tivoli Air (exported as XLV), with longer rear end (an added 245 mm)—essentially the “estate” to the regular model’s hatchback proportions—from 2016.
