Ssangyong Korando/TagAZ Tager (ТагАЗ Тагер) (KJ). 1996–2014 (prod. n/a). 3-door UV, 3-door convertible UV, 5-door UV. F/R, F/A, 1998, 2295 cm³ petrol, 2607 cm³ diesel (I4 DOHC), 2299 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 2874 cm³ diesel (I5 OHC), 3199 cm³ (I6 DOHC). All-new Korando, styled by British designer Ken Greenley, with a neoclassical design blending modern aspects (a smoother front end) with a traditional Jeep silhouette. Retained ladder-frame chassis. Some Mercedes-Benz-licensed engines, shared with Ssangyong Musso. Taillamps and external mirrors altered in 1998. Discontinued in Korea in 2005 as domestic buyers preferred monocoque SUVs over body-on-frame models, and replaced by Actyon. TagAZ continued production and added a five-door model, with longer wheelbase and overall length, and a 2·6 turbodiesel. Good ride on-road, but some engines lacking in torque to tackle things off-road.

Manufacturing locations: Pyeongtaek, South Korea; Taganrog, Russia; Izhevsk, Udmurtia, Russia; Tehrān, Iran

Marque: Ssangyong | Model: Ssangyong Korando | Predecessor: Ssangyong Korando (CJ) | Successor: Ssangyong Actyon
