Simca 1200S Coupé. 1967–71 (prod. 14,741). 2-door coupé. R/R, 1204 cm³ (I4 OHV). Similar formula to the 1000 Coupé, with a facelift and the radiator moved to the front. Air vents on the bonnet recalled Lamborghini Miura. Larger engine, high compression, now developing 82 PS, and servo disc brakes all round. Rack-and-pinion steering from 1968. Good for 170 km/h, and when the horsepower was upped to 85 PS in 1970, the 1200S’s claimed top speed rose to 179 km/h. Numbers still fairly low, though up on the 1000 Coupé’s.

Manufacturing location: Poissy, France

Marque: Simca | Predecessor: Simca 1000 Coupé | Successor: Matra–Simca Bagheera
