Siam, an acronym of Sección Industrial de Amasadoras Mecánicas, was founded by Torcuato Di Tella in 1911, and diversified in 1959 into automobile manufacture some time after the founder’s death. Its models were derived from the BMC Farina saloons and estates, principally the Riley 4/68 and MG Magnette Mk III. Financial difficulties saw Siam Di Tella sell to Industrias Kaiser Argentina (IKA), which continued production of the cars until 1967.
