One of Carroll Shelby’s companies—arguably the best qualified when it came to the car’s heritage—just got on with it, with continuation cars in aluminium or fibreglass. An attempt to have AC involved in the mid-2000s eventually came to nought. Various Cobras were built, including a 50th anniversary model in 2012 that looked like the 1962 original (prod. 50). Buyers were expected to choose their own engines, but Shelby commonly listed the 289 and 427.
