Pretty much the same under a more curvaceous exterior for sedan and wagon. Traction control added 1996 for manual, along with sequential fuel injection across range. Revised coupé débuted 1997, on the same wheelbase as the rest of the range. Minor refinement improvements each year, but Ss were looking poorer as the decade finished, with interiors well behind the competition and feeling cheap. In a retrograde move, drum brakes replaced rear discs on some models in 1999, the same year a small rear door was added to the driver’s side on the coupé. SL and SW received a refresh for 2000, along with a new interior, but the seating was now uncomfortable alongside newer cars and the build quality judged to be questionable at the end of the run. No wagons for 2002.
