The original plastic Saturn, made in a greenfield factory in Tennessee with the intent of beating the imports, namely the Honda Accord. As the Accord and others grew, Saturn stayed the same size, and even went backwards in sophistication, with drum brakes replacing discs on some models in the late 1990s. Became less competitive, and finally replaced by Ion.
