SEAT 850. 1966–74 (prod. 662,832). 2- and 4-door saloon, 4-door extended length saloon, 2-door coupé, 2-door convertible. R/R, 843, 903 cm³ (I4 OHV). Licensed version of Fiat 850 made in Spain. SEAT had two different four-door models, initially a short one based on the Fiat 850 Lucciola designed by Francis Lombardi, later a longer one with a lengthened floorpan designed by SEAT. Coupé (843 cm³), Sport Coupé (903 cm³) and Sport Spider (also 903 cm³) versions also offered. Not the most stable and prone to oversteer because of its layout; overheating also common. While most saloons were offered with the 843 cm³ engine, the 850 Especial Lujo with the longer four-door body was released in 1971 with the 903 cm³ one. Some were exported as Fiats after Italian production ceased. The most common was the 850 Special two-door, with some 200,000 units manufactured.
