Rover 400/Rover 414/Rover 416/Rover 420 (HH-R/Theta). 1995–9 (prod. 469,781). 4- and 5-door saloon. F/F, 1396, 1589, 1994 cm³ (I4 DOHC), 1590 cm³ petrol, 1998 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC). Honda Domani (MA)-based Rover, with classic Honda suspension set-up of front and rear wishbones, but softened considerably. Underwhelming at launch: the five-door model had little to distinguish it from the Civic apart from the grille, and it was overpriced. Four-door saloon from 1996, which looked more individual.
