From AutocadeRover 111/Rover 114/Rover 115. 1994–7 (prod. 94,401 sold 1995–6 UK only). 3- and 5-door saloon, 2-door convertible. F/F, 1120, 1396 cm³ petrol, 1527 cm³ diesel (I4 OHC), 1396 cm³ (I4 DOHC). Launched January 1995 to the public, Metro name was dropped in favour of the 100 series, which it had been called in export markets since its last facelift. Not to be confused with the P4 model also called 100. Smarter looking at front, but very dated by now, and very cramped compared to rivals. A EuroNCAP test showing the 100 getting a one-star safety rating killed the car off: Rover was forced to withdraw it from sale with the ensuing bad publicity.
