Well equipped second-generation RX5, on the same platform and improved engines, making a decent case for Chinese-only, rather than joint-venture, brands. Took styling cues from larger RX8. Dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel drive on top models, along with turbocharged 2·0 delivering 231 PS and 370 Nm. Larger and more spacious than Volkswagen Tayron; four-wheel drive thirstier than similarly priced rivals such as a front-wheel-drive Honda CR-V (RW1). Modern, minimalist interior, with large touchscreen (14·3 in). Augmented reality live image camera, pedestrian recognition, facial recognition in the rear-view mirror, and remote unlocking via cellphone or Bluetooth key among its tech features.
