The Plan B marque from SAIC, after it failed to buy the Rover brand from the Ford Motor Co. Roewe’s logo, conceived in 2006, was the same shape as the Rover Viking longship, fitting in to the space on the grille of its first product. 荣威 in Chinese, giving connotations of honour and prestige. Pushed as an “English” marque in China originally, adorning a range of sedans. Sold as MG in some export markets. A premium brand, R, was spun off in 2020.
